In the western part of the Province of Newfoundland, Gros Morne National Park is home to the Western Brook lake, a picturesque Canadian version of the Norwegian Fjjords that was removed 1.2 years ago by ice.

The best way to explore the Western Brook Port Fjord

As amazing as Newfoundland is, it doesn’t get as many tourists as other Canadian provinces, like British Columbia or Ontario. The logistics added to planning to visit all the beautiful remote areas that Newfoundland has to offer can be a challenge, but one look at the Western Brook Ford Ford Ford Fork is enough to make it worth it.
Located in the northern part of Gros Morn National Park, Western Brook Pond can be reached by booking a flight from Deer Lake Airport, which will take you 30 minutes from the park entrance. If you have more time on your hands and don’t mind the seven o’clock non-stop drive, the world at St. John’s International Airport is a 403 block drive to the park entrance. Breaking up with a two-day trip would be your best bet, stopping at the Gander, known for its hospitality during 9/11 when US AirSpace was shut down and the Gander boarded three countries’ flights as well.
A scenic coastal drive on highway 430 will take you past small towns until you reach the Western Brook Port parking lot. From here, you have many options to explore the extensive FJORT at affordable rates, and costs. You can view the FJORD from the dock, which includes a one-mile trip each way, book five-hour cruises at five o’clock, or reserve a place in advance through parks in Canada to challenge the big packages.

Looking for something to eat? At Dockside, you can grab a nice lunch and enjoy the view while taking a seat on one of the many benches before continuing your tour of the FJORT. Hours of operation vary depending on the time of year, so for the most up-to-date time, it’s best to visit Parks Canada’s official website. Keep in mind that the gravel path to the dock is not wheelchair accessible, but thankfully, at the visitor information center, wheelchair ramps are available for those who need them.
You will need a guide, which can cost more than $200 per person, to do the Western Brook Port trail, however if you want to do it without a guide, you will need a special permit first and you need to reserve weeks in advance. If you plan to hop on a boat trip, Newfoundland gets chilly, especially in the water, so bring warm clothes or jackets in the warmer months.
