Elon Musk says Tesla owners could soon be ‘shipping and driving’

Elon Musk took the stage Thursday night during Tesla’s annual shareholder meeting and made some big claims and promises. The company is “almost comfortable” allowing owners with full self-driving (FSD) “and drive,” he said. For now, its cars are still strictly checking drivers to make sure their eyes are on the road, but Susk said Tesla will allow texting and driving inside “in a month or two.”

Note, Tesla’s FSD is currently capable of autonomous driving. Musk promises at least level 4 power, where the driver can be eliminated as the car performs all the driving tasks, within a short period of time. While he said Tesla would look at its safety data first, he didn’t discuss the steps it takes to text while driving and that it just talks about its stats.

Talking about the cybercab, Musk said that the robotaxis production will start in April next year. Since it will be built specifically with independence in mind, it will not have supports, a steering wheel and side mirrors. The production process of the cybercab, he explained, is very different from the production of conventional cars and is similar to the production process of a phone. That’s why he thinks the company will be able to produce one unit every 10 seconds.

Musk also talked about a flying car and made fun of Joe Rogan’s show. When asked about the event, he said the demo will now take place on April 1, 2026, instead of this month or the next as he told Rogan. It remains to be seen if we’ll get April fooled, but Musk said production of Tesla’s flying car will happen a year or so after its unveiling. As always, take musk’s claims with a grain of salt, as he’s been very disappointing by being overly ambitious in his moments.

While musk was on stage talking about tesla’s plans, hamop anpitus robot was standing on the side. The CEO said Optim is bound to be “the biggest brand of all time,” bigger than cell phones, “bigger than anything.” Tesla will start with a 1 million production line and then a 10 million production line, but said the company expects to eventually produce 100 million of the 100 Optionus robots a year. You see a world where humanoid machines will provide people with medical care … and a world where instead of being sent to prison, Optims follow criminals around to protect themselves from committing more crimes.

Before Musk left the stage, Tesla’s shareholders had voted to approve his payment package worth up to $ 1 trillion over the next 10 years. Tesla has to hit a few goals for Musk to become the first trillionaire, however, including reaching a market value of $ 8.5 trillion from existing robots worth $ 1.4.
