The race in the district, which is the second-largest in the east of the US and the largest east of the Mississippi River, is one of the most closely watched House races in the country in the future as Republicans aim to hold their majority in the chamber. The gold announcement rocked the race.

“I’ve been adjusting to the calls of the past 24 hours about whether or not the bellwether is how the Democrats can try to take back Congress or whatever,” veteran Republican chair Brent Littlefield told Fox News Digital on Thursday.

Littlefield is a Top Campaign Advisor to former Gop Gop Gop. Paul Hepage, who had decided to come out of political retirement and launched a conmetion bid.

Golden, a US Marine Muteran who was sent to the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, and who often brings together his own party in Congress, has put the seat since he got it last year with a razor-thin line.

“After 11 years as a legislator, I’m tired of the growing majesty and pain that exists now from certain elements of our American society – That behavior, where he was organized by the Bangor Daily News, where he expressed his unexpected decision.

For a long time Trump ally intended to return to politics

The centrist Democrat took shots at both parties in his 2026 announcement.

“We’ve seen mainstream Republicans stand up as their party has been hijacked first by tea party prohibitionists and then by the Maga movement and its willingness to cede too much of Congress’s authority to the President,” Gold wrote.

And he added, “I’m afraid the Democrats are going down the same path. We’re letting the most extreme, molded elements of our party call the shots.”

When he woke up with a golden announcement, the handicapperisan of political politics inside, “We are changing our rating from a possible republican to a republican, to a positive development of the GOP and making it more challenging to get the three seats that are needed from the majority.”

And Sabato’s Crystal Ball, another leading handicapper, turned the race from a toss-up to cut Republican.

“Republicans will throw this seat red in 2026,” said Maureen O’Oole, spokeswoman for the National Republican Caucus Committee (NRCC).

But rep. Suzan Delbene, Chairwoman of the Rival Democratic Conmence Citation Committee (DCCC), emphasized that all that is needed to keep this blue seat is to have a voice for them in Congress – and we are sure that we will succeed. “

Jared Golden Faces Primary Challenge

Golden was facing a primary challenge from long-time politician and current State Senator Math Dunlap.

“In the coming days and months, I intend to campaign vigorously for Congress in Maine’s second district — and I intend to win,” he vowed Wednesday.

But sources have told FOX News Digital that the DCCC is now recruiting another candidate for the race.

Gold wrote in his Op-Ed, “I’m not afraid of losing. The best part is that now I have added to the time I didn’t spend compared to being her husband.”

LePAGE, in a Social Media post on Wednesday afternoon, did not specifically mention Golden but wrote, “This race has been going on and on for the jobs of Washington DC. This fight is just beginning.”

But on Thursday, the 77-year-old lepage posted on social media where the latest poll showed that he is leading 5 points more than gold in next year’s government, adding that “lepage wins in all the dirt.”

But Littlefield isn’t taking it for granted, especially after this week’s election victories for Democrats in high-profile contests in blue-collar New Jersey and Virginia.

“It’s still going to be a tough race,” Littefield told Fox Digital News. “It’s not a cake.”
