I’ll be honest when I say I didn’t think I’d like portable power stations as much as I do. I’m also in love with ANKER’s Port Design on the C1000 Gen 2. The two UBS-C ports max at 140w and all five ports are spread out enough that it shouldn’t be a buttery problem.

Aside from camping and power outs, I actually find myself packing a Solix C1000 when I visit my parents’ house. Their 1950s house is downstairs, so I pack in a power station to run in the guest room at night to recharge my phone every night. In fact, it powers my laptop as I type at my parent’s house before we go into Thanksgiving dinner.

Really, the only reason I would choose the original solix C1000 over the new Gen 2 is because the older model comes with a built-in lightbar. That is very useful during a power outage when you carry the Power Station up the stairs and you need a light to light the way. However, the anker solix C1000 is on sale for only $397 during Black Friday, compared to the Gen 2’s retail price of $349. Unless you really want that color, I’d go with the cheaper price on the Gen 2.
