Disney+ can start hosting user-generated AI videos
During the recent acquisition of Disney According to The Hollywood ReporterDisney + soon played host to AI user-generated videos.
“One thing we’re excited about, is that AI will give us the ability to do, to provide Disney + users with an engaging user experience to consume user-generated content – mostly temporary – of others,” said Iger. He did not specify which Disney companies were in talks or provide any timeline for the arrival of Gen-AI features.
There are already plenty of ways for people to make and share AI slop videos, so this isn’t a new idea he’s discovered. But it’s a surprising direction for Disney, which has long been high on protecting both its image and its IP. The company has already made legal moves against many different AI platforms, including termination and sent wishes Character.i and copyright infringement lawsuits against Midjourney and Dieduo. Iger said they hope there are digs that “demonstrate our need to protect the IP,” and it would likely be a happy deal for Disney. But even within the confines of its platform, this is still something close to the company that is now promoting the evolution of GE-AI for general characters.
