Long before James Gunn became a DC creator, before he turned on a talking raccoon and a walking drug, he worked for tromay Entertainment, the famous studio responsible for A poisonous crusader. Frank is joined by Libby (Elliot’s page before his transformation), a clerk at a comic book store, who is concerned about Frank’s quest for revenge, joining as Boltie. Two of these apparently deeply wounded individuals operating under the shared delusion that they may be playthings for Jacques and his trained henchmen. The result is a bloody battle that leaves everyone alive, badly injured, and traumatized from the experience, giving James Gunn one last chance before he becomes part of Disney.
The cast of – Great It’s full of the usual suspects, including Nathan Filloon as the Bible, Michael Rooker as the Henchman, Sean Gunn as one of Libby’s boys, and Linda Cardellini as one of Frank’s few friends. It’s a killer deal that even his low budget films are packed with talent. For $2.5 million, – Great it was made for less money than was spent on animating rocket raccoon.
The black comedy, in fact, was a complete failure, failing to bring back even $ 1 million during the theatrical run. It has since become profitable after a decade on DVD and streaming.
