New X Feature Reveals More Maga Patriots Maga in X doesn’t even happen in the US
Last weekend, Elon Musk started rolling out a new feature called “about this profile,” and a frenzy ensued.
With this feature, users can now see more information about other people’s accounts, such as how many times they changed their usernames, when they joined the platform, and where they are actually from.
The last of those factors caused a stir. Users have further discovered that many of the Maga Cart love accounts have not actually been removed from anywhere in the United States.
Take, for example, @Magananatiotionx, an account with almost 400,000 followers. That account says it’s “America first Patriot Voice” but a new feature reveals it’s actually based in Eastern Europe. Another account called 17766general
The list goes on. According to another account, the username “America first” actually originated in Bangladesh. The one account that reported that Trump had delivered as “sure” what he had voted for and that he could be supported in Virginia was actually an Eastern account, it turns out. It’s not just maga accounts. The now-deleted account with over 50,000 followers who asked for its bio to be a “Democrat Democrat” and “expert expert,” is actually from Kenya.
The purpose of the new feature, according to X head of brand nikita bier, is to help users “verify the authenticity of the content they see on X.”
Accounts can also use VPNs. But to help account for that, some developers also want X to be able to see VPN connections and label that account’s location information as “the country or region may be incorrect.” Other accounts in X show this writing.
More often than not, the feature can help users understand which accounts are worthless.
For example, several accounts with the same content lying around and appearing to be from the same region could indicate that they are all part of a bot farm.
Accounts that lie about his location could be tools used in a foreign influence campaign. It can involve the operation of an advanced bot or paying users individually, foreign organizations can try to change public opinion or cause political guilt by suppressing false narratives and false distictform. Russia, China, Iran, Israel, and the United States themselves have been accused of using foreign influencer campaigns on social media.
