Organic Bedring Brand Coyuchi recently launched its organic mattress, combining cotton, wool and latex for each rolled atop. While Coyuchi’s linen sheets are gorgeous, I was nervous about trying the company’s first attempt. A bed isn’t a mattress, after all, and technology doesn’t always go hand in hand. This time, however, it happened. The coyuchi natural mattress is surprisingly firm without being firm and perfect for those of us who lack a sleeping style and tend to sleep all side, back, stomach. I have never felt bad.

The design starts with coils placed on a wool pad and then, like a midwestren dip, layers with small coils, latex, and then lay it down with an organic cotton cover. There is surprisingly good support considering the distance between the coils and the top, and the mattress pad offers good isolation. Coyuchi says natural rem can be used with or without a box. I tested it for a few months on a box spring and spent a week with it on the floor and saw no difference. At 11 inches deep, there is room for a topper, although I didn’t feel the need.

Cotton and premium layers have guaranteed properties, while dunlop latex carries the gols certificate. The material is unprocessed, which is great for anyone suffering from industrial dyes. As with many of these organic options, coyuchi is made without chemicals, foams, or glues.
