Joii, a new AI-Powered app, can measure blood time

Among period tracking apps like Flo and Natural Cycles, Menstrual Health Startup promises something new: measuring blood period with AI to detect cases of Endometriosis, and they are launching today in the UK.

One in three women experience heavy bleeding during their periods, according to the National Health Service (NHS), and it can be a sign of painful conditions such as endometriosis, fibroids, and adenomyosis. It can take four to 11 years to be diagnosed with endometriosis, and as many as 60 percent remain undiagnosed. The founder of Joii, Justyna Stratzeszynska, developed the app after her painful journey in the diagnosis of fibroids.

The purpose of the Joii Period analysis app is to use AI to track a person’s cycle and identify any potential issues to discuss with your doctor.

To do this, users will have to buy Joii Evaluation Pads – There are day and night variations – and download the app (available for Apple and Android devices). When you want to see how happy you are and if there are any cloots, hold your phone over the pad and scan using the app. The application will check if you are using the Day or night Pad, and if there are any clots to detect, according to a video on Joii’s website.

You can also use the app to track other symptoms, such as pelvic pain and fatigue.

“We already count our steps, monitor our sleep and track our heart rate,” Strazeszynska commented in a press release shared by mashable. “Measuring blood loss is just the next way to better understand our bodies and seek the care that’s right for you. We want every woman to have evidence, not just pain.”

In a five-month study with 72 participants, 88 percent said Joei would improve the way they communicate with their doctor, and more than half (52 percent) said their health reading improved after receiving the app.
