Polestar EVS can power your home in California

EV Maker Polestar has announced that it is bringing bi-decitel charging – the ability of an electric vehicle to be treated as a battery in your home or the grid – to Polestar 3 owners living in California. This feature is one of several ways EV owners can save money on their electric vehicle, by using less energy overall, or by getting credits for supplying excess energy to the grid.
BI-DEALITION’s CREEDIAL SPION feature uses direct current, according to the company, and enables v2h operation for polestar 3 eVolt Volt electric customers. ” Polestar offers the feature in partnership with the DCBEL energy company, which helps manage the California Energy Commission’s program to install “home energy stations” that can manage multiple sources of clean energy in clean homes. Polestar says that using the ARA DCBEL system, customers “can reduce charging costs by up to $1,300 per year and use their car as a power backup for up to 10 days.”
The ability to send a charge from the battery back to your home was a big selling point for Ford’s F-150 in its early days. Bi-Direct charging was featured in GM’s AV LineUp and NISSAN FROEL. Polestar says it will continue to develop the bi-dection charging capabilities of its vehicles and “plans to introduce a wider offering in the future.” While this partnership is the first time an EV maker has offered a charging feature in the US, polestar already offers customer-guided charging to customers in Germany through zaptger.
If you live in California and own a Polestar 3, you can apply for home power station discounts through the DCBEL website to try out the feature.
